If you’re a cold pizza lover, this is not for you! For the rest of us who like our pizza slices to be nice and hot, grab your air fryer and let me show you the best way to Reheat Pizza in the Air Fryer. (Really, this is the only way I reheat slices of pizza anymore)!
Well, I do have plenty of knowledge of How to Reheat Pizza using the oven and it’s also pretty nifty when I’m feeding the family. However, the oven is really ideal for when you have a lot of slices or even a whole pizza to reheat.
Using the air fryer to reheat pizza is perfect for when you have a slice or two that you want reheated to the original consistency quickly!
So next time you need a quick pizza pick-me-up in the middle of the day, skip the microwave and enjoy a crispy, cheesy, perfectly reheated piece of pizza in just a few minutes.
Why we love reheating pizza in the air fryer:
- Quick: The air fryer is famous for being fast. It preheats quickly and shortens that cook time.
- Crispy: When you use the air fryer, it crisps up the pizza crust nicely, whereas the microwave notoriously makes a once great pizza so soggy.
- Good as New: Yes! I swear, reheating a 2 day old refrigerated pizza slice in the air fryer makes it taste just like it was when it was first baked.
- Versatile: This air fryer method works for just about any piece of leftover pizza you have in your fridge, no matter what the toppings are.
Recipe Tip
The first bullet point is probably the most important one to note. This recipe is QUICK! With that being said, try not to stray too far from your air fryer. You really don’t want your crust to burn! Once the pizza’s been in there for 3 minutes, start checking to see if it’s crispy enough for you. It won’t need much longer than that.
What You’ll Need
- Leftover Pizza – This quick reheating method is for leftover pizza only, not for cooking pizza! It can be pizza from the night before that you got from your local restaurant or pizza that you made from scratch. Want to make homemade pizza so you’ve got leftovers to reheat? How to Store Pizza in the Fridge
The air fryer can only do so much! If the pizza isn’t stored properly or it’s too old, even the air fryer may not be able to save the day. Here’s a few quick tips on how to perfectly store your leftover pizza:
- Pick the right container. If you’re only planning to keep the pizza in your fridge for 24 hours or less, you can always just keep it in the cardboard box it came in. However, any longer than one day and it’ll dry out pretty quickly. I like using zip-top bags or food storage containers for pizza to keep it fresh for longer.
- Don’t keep it for too long. Even in an airtight container, pizza only has a shelf life of about 2-3 days in the fridge. After that it usually starts to really become stale.
- Let it cool before storing. If you toss a hot piece of pizza into an airtight container in the fridge, condensation will form. That means two things – bacteria will grow AND the crust will get soggy from the moisture. Always let your pizza cool fully to room temperature prior to storing.
Can I reheat frozen pizza in the Air Fryer?
Absolutely! I often individually wrap and freeze leftover pizza slices for the kids to have in their lunches or when they need something quick.
You can pop your frozen slices of pizza right in the air fryer to reheat — just add an extra minute or two, but be sure to keep an eye on it!
Recipe Tip
When it comes to reheating pizza in the air fryer, I don’t like to line the basket or rack with foil or parchment paper. That way, the air flow makes the crust nice and crispy. However, you can definitely it for easier clean up if you’d prefer!

Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer for 350 degrees F according to manufacturer's directions.
- Place pizza slices in the basket or on the rack of the air fryer — I like to skip the parchment for maximum air flow (crispy crust!), but you can save yourself some clean up and put them on a piece of parchment if you like.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes, and then add a minute or two at a time until the pizza is heated through to your liking and the bottom crust is crisped.
- Serve.

As far as reheating frozen Pizza, I read online that with frozen Pizza, defrost it first if you want a crisp crust, tried it and it works, but I’m not crazy about frozen Pizza, I like to make my own dough and toppings, Love White Pizza also, plenty of Garlic, yum!!!

I love using my airfryer to reheat pizza but the top of the crust edge always gets too well done (burnt) before the bottom is crisp and the cheese is melted. Any suggestions?
Vinnie says
Hi Melissa, If you have a metal free standing rack that fits inside your air fryer
maybe you can sort of “Center” the Pizza so the air can circulate, use a lower temp and check often to evenly cook! I have a toaster oven with a convection
feature that acts just like an ”Air Fryer” and temperature to 500ยฐ it makes great French Fries, you just need a mesh basket to cook them, Brand is Bella Pro Series all Stainless will cook a 12” Pizza, under $100

I haven’t found this with ours, but I do find that a larger air fryer is better with this because the element is not so close to the food. I’ve linked our favorite air fryers here if you want to take a look: https://www.thereciperebel.com/small-kitchen-appliances/
