This Perfect Basmati Rice Recipe uses just Basmati Rice, water or broth, and a pinch of salt to create light, fluffy grains that pair beautifully with curries, stir-fries, and more!
Bring water or broth to a boil over high heat and add the rice.
Reduce heat to medium-low (just enough to keep a low boil) and cover.
Cook for 10-12 minutes, 10 for firmer grains and 12 for softer (set a timer!). Drain over a fine mesh sieve until most of the liquid has been drained away, then place back into the pot and cover with the lid.
Let sit off the heat for 5 minutes. Fluff and serve.
Notes
Ingredients and Substitutions:Water or broth: broth will give more flavor than water, but you may not want to use 4 cups since most of it will be drained away. You can swap one or two cups of the water with broth, or add a bit of bouillon to give your rice more flavor.Seasonings: you can add pepper, fresh or dried herbs, bouillon paste or powder, and many other spices and seasonings to flavor your rice while cooking if you prefer.
