1lbwhole fresh strawberriesabout 25, washed and dried
150gramssolid milk chocolate bar of choice(not chocolate chips)
50-100gramswhite chocolate or other(optional)
Instructions
Wash the strawberries well and allow them to dry completely by sitting them on paper towels.
Place 1 inch of water in a small pot.
Break the chocolate and place it in a glass bowl that fits over the top of the pot without touching the water.
Bring the water to a simmer over medium-high heat, then reduce to low and place the bowl with the chocolate in it over the top. Stir frequently until the chocolate bar has melted and is smooth.
Remove from heat (I like to keep the bowl over the pot to keep the chocolate warm) and carefully dip the strawberries into the chocolate, holding the stem. Gently shake off excess chocolate and place it on a baking sheet or a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.
When all the strawberries are coated, put them in the refrigerator to set completely.
Once set, melt the additional chocolate if using. Place in a zip top bag, seal, and snip the corner to use for piping. Drizzle back and forth over the chocolate covered strawberries for an extra pop.
Notes
Storage:
Room temperature: Place strawberries in an airtight container in a single layer at room temperature for a few hours, which is useful if you are transporting them or serving them.
Fridge: They are best stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, depending on how fresh the strawberries were, to begin with.
